ICRI Metro New York Chapter

Open Call for 2026 (and Beyond) Technical Presentations

Purpose

ICRI-MNY brings together architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and building owners to share applied research, project case studies, and lessons learned that improve the performance and longevity of building envelopes and historic structures. We’re seeking technical-focused sessions that deliver practical, evidence‑based insights for design, investigation, repair, and preservation.

Who Should Present

  • Practicing Design Professionals in the façade restoration, concrete repair, masonry repairs, historic preservation, and waterproofing or related fields
  • Specialists experienced in structural engineering and design, concrete or masonry repair and restoration, NDE/NDT diagnostics, digital documentation/BIM for existing buildings, and forensic investigations in the New York City metropolitan area
  • Owners and related public agencies with technical project case studies or lessons learned (may team up with Design Professionals, Contractors, or other Project stakeholders)
  • Manufacturers with non‑commercial technical content demonstrating standards‑based performance

Tip: sessions that clearly articulate learning objectives (AIA HSW/PDH‑eligible where applicable) and show measurable outcomes tend to score highest. (Many manufacturers offer Lunch‑and‑Learns to provide AIA HSW approved credits; align your objectives accordingly.)

Preferred Topics (examples)

  • Durable repair strategies related to concrete, terra cotta, cast stone, precast, brick, and stone masonry
  • Concrete garage or façade repair design, detailing, QA/QC (including case studies)
  • Concrete or masonry materials, assemblies, anchorage, installation/testing
  • New York City project case studies and lessons learned
  • Non‑destructive evaluation (GPR, IR, laser scanning)
  • Facade access & contractor logistics
  • Digital workflows: reality capture, modeling, and submittal/closeout best practices
  • Project case studies balancing preservation, stability, and sustainability

Presentation Formats

  • Technical Session (30–45 min + Q&A): single speaker or multiple speakers
  • Panel Discussion (50–60 min): 3–4 voices; moderated debate with audience Q&A
  • Hands‑on Demo (45–60+ min): method demonstration in contractor facility (may require Contractor host venue to be considered a complete submission)
  • Lightning Talks (15–20 min each): thematic cluster of 3–4 concise talks
