A Message from the Chapter

As we move through another busy construction season, the ICRI Metro NY Chapter continues its commitment to advancing the repair, restoration, and protection of concrete and masonry structures throughout the region.

This quarter has been marked by strong member engagement, valuable technical discussions, and continued collaboration among engineers, architects, contractors, manufacturers, owners, and industry partners. Thank you to everyone who attended our recent events, volunteered their time, and supported the chapter’s mission.

The strength of our chapter comes from the willingness of our members to share knowledge and build professional relationships. We encourage you to stay involved, attend upcoming programs, and invite colleagues who would benefit from becoming part of our growing community.

Webinar Recap: Existing Buildings, New Rules – Understanding NYC’s New Existing Building Code with DOB

On June 23, 2026, the ICRI Metro NY Chapter hosted a complimentary webinar featuring Constadino (Gus) Sirakis, P.E., Deputy Commissioner of Development & Technical Affairs at the New York City Department of Buildings. The presentation provided an overview of New York City’s new Existing Building Code and the Department’s efforts to consolidate existing building requirements into a single, more streamlined code framework.
Attendees gained valuable insight into the intent behind the new code, its anticipated impact on the design and construction industry, and what architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners should understand as the new requirements are implemented.
The Metro NY Chapter is grateful to the New York City Department of Buildings for its transparency, willingness to engage with the industry, and continued partnership in helping design and construction professionals better understand evolving code requirements. We appreciate Deputy Commissioner Sirakis for sharing his expertise and thank everyone who joined us for this timely and informative program.
